About PWC
The Pilipino Workers Center of Southern California (PWCSC) aims to secure the dignity and safety of the Pilipinx community in Southern California and build labor leaders in the domestic worker industry. PWCSC, founded in 1997, has been organizing homecare workers for social justice, economic justice and dignity for more than two decades, and has offices and operates in Los Angeles County, Orange County, and San Diego. Originally founded to address the substandard working conditions and wage theft experienced by mostly immigrant Pilipinx homecare workers in Southern California, PWCSC builds power to advance fundamental shifts in the care economy that benefit the immigrant domestic and care workforce as an affiliate of the
National Domestic Workers Alliance and the California Domestic Worker Coalition. Integral to this mission is ensuring that the Pilipinx community is fully supported with holistic health and safety knowledge and resources, equipping them towards leadership development within the community.
Working at PWC
As a Filipino workers’ organization, we imbibe a culture of flexibility, of personal accountability, while nurturing the Filipino values of bayanihan (spirit of community and helping one’s neighbor) and family-orientedness. This is evident in the collaborative work culture within the organization, and relatively flexible or hybrid work modalities that better allow for work-life balance.
