Job Title: Construction Laborer

Job Description

The Skilled Construction Laborer supports a wide range of construction activities on commercial projects. This role is ideal for someone who is hands-on, safety-focused, and experienced with tools, equipment, and jobsite operations. You will work closely with site supervisors and tradespeople to ensure projects are completed efficiently and to company standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform skilled labor tasks including demolition, framing support, concrete work, site prep, and material handling.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and small equipment safely and effectively.
  • Assist carpenters, equipment operators, and other trades as needed.
  • Read and follow basic plans, measurements, and instructions from supervisors.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free jobsite.
  • Load, unload, and stage materials and equipment.
  • Follow all company and OSHA safety protocols.
  • Support project timelines by completing tasks efficiently and accurately.
  • Communicate clearly with team members and supervisors to coordinate work.

Essential Skills

  • 2+ years of construction labor experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of jobsite safety practices.
  • Ability to lift 50–75 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Experience with common construction tools and equipment.
  • Reliable transportation to Madison-area jobsites.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and take direction.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working on hands and knees/bent over removing and pouring concrete.
  • Experience in concrete finishing, carpentry, and flatwork.

Work Environment

You will be working outdoors in all weather conditions, starting at 7am until 4pm, either at the shop or jobsite depending on the project. You will join a team of 9 other field laborers in a small company culture. The dress code requires construction work clothes and steel toe boots. Necessary tools and personal protective equipment such as hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, and high visibility gear will be provided.

This is a Permanent position based out of Madison, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $32.00/hr.
