Job Description

Why This Role Matters

Uptime is everything in our Frito-Lay plants. As the Industrial Reliability Mechanic on D Shift nights (40 hours/week), you’ll safeguard production from Wednesday–Saturday, 6 PM–6 AM (Wednesday is 6 hours; Thursday–Saturday are 12-hour shifts). Your mastery of multi-craft maintenance—electrical, mechanical, and controls—keeps lines moving and people safe.

Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair AC/DC electrical systems; read and apply electrical schematics.
  • Use electrical test equipment: volt-ohm meter, amp meter, and oscilloscope.
  • Install, service, and diagnose pneumatic and hydraulic systems, control valves, and centrifugal/positive displacement pumps.
  • Address faults on 480V, 3-phase motors and related power/control components.
  • Apply strong PLC troubleshooting skills within preventative maintenance and work order systems.
  • Operate lathes and mills; perform arc and Heliarc® welding for repairs and fabrication.
  • Respond to maintenance calls, including taking over in-progress work to drive swift resolution.
  • Inspect equipment, create prioritized repair plans, and ensure maximum efficiency, effectiveness, and reliability.
  • Support and mentor entry-level mechanics on complex repairs.

Work Environment

Expect a large, loud manufacturing setting where indoor temperatures can reflect the seasons. Hours may vary based on assigned location and business needs. Our culture prizes urgency, collaboration, and safety.

What We’re Looking For

  • Comfortable with high-voltage systems and multi-craft diagnostics.
  • Service-minded approach when partnering with operators and teammates.
  • Flexibility to shift priorities and stay composed under pressure.
  • Self-directed ownership of quality, speed, and preventative work.
  • Rigorous commitment to safety policies and procedures.

Experience & Education

  • Electrical certification, technical school training, welding experience, or manufacturing maintenance background preferred.
  • Managers often prefer 2+ years of training/experience in mechanical/electrical repair within manufacturing.

Note: Before the in-person interview, you’ll complete a hands-on electrical skills test. If you’re building your experience, explore our entry-level maintenance roles.

Minimum Requirements

  • 18+ years old.
  • Available for weekends and holidays.
  • Lift 15–50 lbs with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Stand and walk for long periods with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Climb, bend, reach, stoop, kneel, and stretch for extended periods with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Work amid extreme temperatures, humidity, hazardous/loud equipment, and slippery surfaces.

Compensation, Benefits & Career Path

We offer industry-competitive pay plus outstanding benefits: health, dental, vision, retirement savings with a 401(k) company contribution, paid vacation, and more. Start at Frito-Lay and access broader PepsiCo career opportunities. Our training programs are robust—bring your base in multi-craft maintenance and we’ll help you advance.
