Job Description



The Vehicle Shop Manager leads all aspects of fleet maintenance operations for Aspen Snowmass, overseeing the repair, preventive maintenance, and reliability of vehicles, snowcats, and heavy equipment that support year-round mountain operations. This role provides leadership to the Vehicle Shop team, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards of quality and operational excellence. The Vehicle Shop Manager collaborates with departments across the organization to maximize fleet availability, support business needs, and maintain compliance with applicable safety and regulatory requirements. This position reports to the Maintenance Director.

  • The salary range for this position is $82,555 - $115,577 . Actual pay will be dependent on budget and experience; all our salaried roles are eligible for bonus.

Essential Job Functions / Key Job Responsibilities 

  • Manage Vehicle Shop staff, including interviewing, hiring, training, scheduling, assigning and directing work, evaluating performance, recognizing achievements, addressing employee concerns, and administering corrective action as needed 
  • Support 24/7 fleet maintenance operations during the winter season 
  • Prepare, manage, and administer the annual operating budget 
  • Advise and recommend purchasing decisions for equipment, capital investments, and shop operations 
  • Optimize work order flow, asset management, and parts inventory within Limble 
  • Ensure vehicles, equipment, and machinery are maintained in compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations 
  • Ensure timely and accurate payroll for all employees 
  • Oversee the safe handling, storage, and management of all fuels and oils 
  • Prepare the team for WE Rips, OSHA audits, CDOT inspections, and other regulatory compliance requirements 
  • Lead weekly meetings to reinforce safety, operational efficiency, and cleanliness across all Vehicle Maintenance Facility operations 
  • Maintain positive working relationships across the organization and partner with Grooming, Lift Maintenance, Trails, Mountain Operations, and Hospitality leadership to align maintenance priorities with operational goals 
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications



Education & Experience Requirements  

  • Must be at least 18 years of age 
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred 
  • 5 years of vehicle maintenance experience required; 8 years preferred 
  • 1 year of leadership or management experience required; 3+ years preferred 
  • Valid, current, unrestricted driver's license required; Commercial Driver License (CDL) preferred 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities 

  • Extensive knowledge of diesel engines, vehicle systems, and general vehicle maintenance practices 
  • Knowledge of 12- and 24-volt electrical systems preferred 
  • Knowledge of computer maintenance management systems (CMMS), preferably Limble 
  • Knowledge of applicable safety standards, regulations, and compliance requirements related to vehicle maintenance operations 
  • Welding and metalworking skills required 
  • Skilled in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing vehicles, snowcats, and heavy equipment 
  • Skilled in operating fleet vehicles, including snowcats, snowmobiles, and other heavy equipment 
  • Ability to safely operate equipment on steep grades, within tight proximities, and around above-ground and below-ground assets 
  • Ability to follow safety policies and procedures while exercising sound judgment in hazardous or changing conditions 
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing operational needs, weather conditions, and event requirements 
  • Ability to communicate effectively and maintain positive working relationships with internal departments and partners

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Ability to reach, crouch, kneel, stand or be on your feet, kneel and bend for extended periods of time
  • Regularly work in adverse conditions and required to use protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials as well as an office environment and may be required to walk on slippery and uneven surfaces 
  • Must be able to frequently lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs. individually or with assistance
