Video Editor Job Description Helium is looking for a Video Editor to join our team as a remote contractor. As a Video Editor, you are a talented visual storyteller with a primary interest in social media content and YouTube video production. You will need to be able to develop engaging and visually compelling video content while also understanding what's required to bring creative concepts to life. We value a collaborative work environment and a holistic approach, so you'll need to be able to collaborate across disciplines and deliverables.
Responsibilities: - Edit and produce high-quality video content for social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.) and YouTube.
- Work closely with leadership to ideate and iterate on video concepts and formats.
- Conceptualize and execute video edits based on requirements, feedback, and platform best practices.
- Create multiple format versions of content (e.g., 9:16 for Stories/Reels, 16:9 for YouTube, 1:1 for feed posts).
- Deliver polished final edits and present work to internal teams.
- Maintain a very high standard and attention to detail throughout the editing process.
- Manage your own schedule while maintaining quick turnaround times and remaining flexibly available for feedback rounds and revisions.
Requirements: - 2+ years of video editing experience, preferably with social media and/or YouTube content.
- Inspiring portfolio that highlights editing style, storytelling ability, and experience across platforms and formats.
- Proficiency in industry-standard editing tools (Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Final Cut Pro, CapCut, or equivalent).
- Strong understanding of platform-specific video formats, aspect ratios, and content trends.
- A passion for visual storytelling including motion graphics, color grading, audio mixing, and pacing.
- Verbal and written communication skills with the ability to speak to your creative decisions and incorporate feedback efficiently.
- Self-motivated and able to manage your own schedule while consistently meeting tight deadlines.
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize accordingly.
Compensation: This is a remote contractor opportunity. Compensation is hourly - contractors will invoice Helium for hours worked. Rate is competitive and commensurate with experience.
