Position Summary & Responsibilities : Law Enforcement Officer (Special Investigator)

A certified law enforcement professional is sought to join a specialized investigative team dedicated to combating fraudulent overpayments and ensuring compliance with state and federal laws. This critical role is ideal for a highly skilled investigator with strong analytical abilities, effective communication skills, and demonstrated expertise in case development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead complex investigations into fraudulent overpayment activities, applying advanced knowledge of criminal and administrative procedures.
  • Analyze and interpret detailed documentation to assess evidentiary value and prosecutorial merit.
  • Develop comprehensive case files, including timelines, evidence logs, and supporting legal documentation.
  • Conduct formal interviews, issue subpoenas, and prepare affidavits to support criminal charges.
  • Collaborate closely with prosecutors and legal teams to prepare cases for review and charging decisions.
  • Manage a high-volume caseload while adhering to strict investigative timelines and organizational priorities.
  • Coordinate with internal departments, tax auditors, call center staff, and federal, state, and local law enforcement partners.
  • Maintain and follow established safety protocols during both office and field investigations.
  • Complete required annual continuing education, including firearms qualification, to maintain law enforcement certification.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Active Kansas Law Enforcement Certification
  • Valid Kansas driver’s license
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least six months of investigative experience involving case documentation, application of laws and policies, and evidence collection
